Quacks and Oddities

In commenting on the apathetic attitude displayed within this institution, a myriad of diverse influences and experiences on the part of each individual must be recognized. However, a university, by its very nature is defined as an enclave of intellectual fermentation and development.

I would seem as though concomitant with this guise would be the process of student recalcitrance to the pragmatics of not only the university but also of the malignancies of the American political process and societal affairs. The question which should then be raised by the student population in view of the negligence of this essential belligerent function of these educated individuals is what is the intent and purpose of the university.

When viewed in this aspect student apathy appears to be fostered by the administration whose definition of university existence is in complete contrast to its actions. What affairs of the administration are made public prior to the decisions’ adoptions? What essential actions are taken by the student government which is an extension of university administration--or is this only a pretense?
It is true that the interest in student government and policies is lacking, but when and interest is express does the university act upon the decisions, actions, and interests, or are these expressions of democratic principle ignored or construed to pacify the outside community?

These remarks are made in an officious capacity, which in itself bears the weight of the argument; no documentation can be publicly found because it does not exist.

An educated society such as the university should not, however, depend upon the dogmatic  atmosphere conveyed by the institution it is a member of. There can be no excuse for the failure of the student to command control of their educational environment and demand the opportunity to be recognized as more than half-witted natural resources programmed for their procurement by the society in view of their ability at programming others. As a general comment there may be no rebuttal or answer by the remaining eight thousand plus "intellectuals" If these students do decide rather to cower behind their arrogant institution and ignore their individuality, then the classification intellectual and student becomes synonymous with subjugation and prostitution.
