Scott Wagygood times, indeed. look at that face of yours...so proud of getting through yet another another tune.
Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 1:06pm MST
Tom Hascall ColeScott. See the Casino in the background? What crummy pickups. I'm sour on Epiphones forever. Do you remember how I got that pickup guru in Canada to put in new P-90s? I wonder if Dean is still playing. Do you think he could slap that bass for me? I wonder.
Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 4:28am MST
Scott WagyThat Casino looked cool, but what a piece of junk. Dean is probably a daddy 3 or 4 times over by now. He is LDS and all. Still don't think that would stop him from playing that bass.
Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 7:57am MST
Gayle Johnson-BeckerOr maybe this time it was "If I Fell In Love With You." ???
Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 8:06am MST
Tom Hascall ColeThis one was "Roll over Beethoven" and others. "If I fell" was another night.
Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 6:20pm MST
Scott WagyThat was a bongo tune, so it was "and I love her". Nice rendition too!

Friday, July 9, 2010 at 8:49am MST
Tom Hascall ColeThat IS Herbie Hancock, isn't it? Can Mr. Shankar sing? I had a grad student named Ravi Shankar. What IS he singing? How did the sitar fit in with the band?
Friday, July 9, 2010 at 10:37am MST
Angela Rodriguez Mooneyyou are the best.

Davy MooneyThat's them, indeed. Herbie got me through the New Delhi airport. A guard with a machine gun tried to stop me getting through the checkpoint but Saint Herbie intervened. God bless the Monk Institute--they have hooked me up in a ginormous way! p.s. Hey uncle Tom, what's up with the 'e' in my first name? You must be thinking about Lac'e'y...
Friday, July 9, 2010 at 3:53pm MST
Tom Hascall ColeI keep putting the E in and I changed it in the tag, and thus you were tagged officially. It's a poor mind that can't think of more than one way to spell a name.
Friday, July 9, 2010 at 4:05pm MST
Sally Cole MooneyAs the one who named this boy, I'll explain. Davey is the British spelling. Davy Crockett, an American, spelled his name with no "e," thus Davy Mooney has no "e" either.
Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 7:01am MST
Tom Hascall ColeDavy Maine. Davy Crockett would have been so much better. And the GIGS. Think of the gigs.

Tom Hascall ColeFun guessing game quiz. Who is this?
Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 7:36am MST
Tom Hascall ColeYOU'RE RIGHT! IT'S CINDY WALKER, the songwriter who wrote Bob Wills' tunes. Willie Nelson did a whole album of her songs. Here's a list of some of the songs. You'll recognize all of your favorites: You Don't Know Me Warm Red Wine Dream Baby (How Long Must I Dream?) Bubbles in My Beer Don't Be Ashamed of Your Age Miss Molly Take Me in Your Arms It's All Your Fault Distant Drums Sugar Moon Night Watch You're from Texas I Want Somebody Travelin' in My Shoes You've Got My Heart Doing a Tap Dance Not That I Care Cherokee Maiden I Don't Care Dusty Skies In the Misty Moonlight

Sally Cole MooneySo, that makes fourteen guitars?
Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 4:17pm MST
Tom Hascall ColeBut I only have three or four that are even decent.
Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 4:36pm MST
Richard Carbajalonly fourteen!!

Stephen ColeI also have a guitar.
Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 6:04pm MST
Tom Hascall ColeHowever, your guitar needs a NECK adjustment as the action is far too high and is a hand buster. I have always liked the sound of that guitar just the same.

Gayle Johnson-BeckerPiece of cake
Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 6:32pm MST
Tom Hascall ColeI had my nephew write out the music many years ago and I told him to make it as hard as he could. He did. I couldn't play it. I shelved it. Thus, this amazing song was lost from my repertoire. Today, I looked at Youtube jazz guys playing it and wrote down what I saw. It's perfect now. Simple and still complete. And God what a bridge. I found that Ranger Doug does it like this. (The E9th on the bottom left is his.) I'll be singing it on the 18th at Whole Foods Supermarket along with some other amazing songs the newest of which is a fabulous old composition, your favorite and mine: Pennies from Heaven.

Gayle Johnson-BeckerGoing to miss yet another of your gigs. We are in San Diego with our new grandbaby. Good news: little Quinn has Beatles' lullabies. Also an ABC tee shirt: A is for Apple, B is for Beatles .... Starting him off right.

Tom Hascall ColeB is for Beatles. I like it!

Matthew AldersonTom, I've been playing piano for about 3 years and although your outline does make some sense to me I wouldn't call it simple. I just don't know my chords that well yet. Maybe in another 3 years. I'm familiar with the song however, it was a standard on the C&W stations when we were kids. I've got an mp3 of it somewhere, I think by Bob Wills.
Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 2:42pm MST
Matthew AldersonNo, I think I am thinking of a different song on second thought.
Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 2:44pm MST
Tom Hascall ColeKD Lang does Sweet Little Cherokee, which is quite different. Cindy Walker, whose songs I play, wrote "Cherokee Maiden" for Bob Wills. It's one of the few songs by her that I'm not fond of. Willie Nelson recorded it on an album with nothing but Cindy Walker tunes. He sang it horribly! I'm surprised they didn't do a retake or give up recording all together. This music is the old one by Ray Noble. Horn players like it because it's in Bb. Riders in the Sky have a fantastic version that I like. You need the melody if you want to play it on the piano (or anywhere else). I used to play tons of piano. When I retired I tried to redo my whole rusty piano repertoire. But I'm totally rusty again. Here's a noisy video of me doing a Mr. Roger's song. I wrote out the chords like for Cherokee, but they ain't quite right. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=1371098258088&set=t.1850725403&type=3&theater

Tom Hascall ColeI typed the jazz chords in the bass cleft so the piano playing it has the same voicings: Three-note Freddy Green chords, etc. of some with all the six notes in a six-note guitar chord. Gourd.
