September 1, 1989 Friday

August is over. It's 7:54 AM and I have to go to work. I went to sleep rather early last night and got seven and a half hours of sleep before puppy dog woke me. I gave Steve a wake-up call. Tomorrow is the beginning of Labor Day weekend, and I'm not going to go anywhere because the whole state will be a mad house. Next weekend I hope to go collect fossils.

I went to work and there was a little party for Daryl because she's splitting. Monty came, and so did Roy Ludtke. I hung around and then taught my classes. I went home and played with the puppy dog.

May 1989

May 11, 1989 Thursday

It was that day after an end-of-cycle dinner. I got this computer the night before and it was only half unpacked when I had to go to the dinner. There were banjo players, ancient old cusses playing at the dinner. One had a baritone horn, so I guess he wasn't much of a banjo player after all. Roy Ludtke was honored because he was retiring. His wife got him to split early. I bolted the food and drove the van back here because I wanted to diddle with the brand-new super smoking Mac Plus. What a piece of plastic encased silica ambrosia it is, my friends. With it I plan to do a bit of first-rate planet busting. I'm invincible with my new Macintosh computer.
