8. Sparrow Folk Knowledge
    When we discovered that pigeons loved chard, we started throwing some in the coop for them. Unfortunately, the local English sparrows took notice and said, "Look what Pidge do!" They then commenced to ravish our chard garden and we had to stop giving the pidgies chard any longer.

   Only after a few generations of sparrows had come and gone, and the Passeridae custom had faded from sparrow folk knowledge, were we able again to feed the pigeons chard—sparingly and after shooing away the sparrows so they couldn’t see and learn again.



8. La sabiduría popular de los gorriones

Cuando nos enteremos de que a las palomas les gustaba acelga suiza empezamos a arrojar un poquito al palomar para ellos. Desafortunadamente, los gorriones lugareños lo notaron y dijeron:
—¡Mira lo que hacen los pichones!

      Luego empezaron a aniquilar nuestra huerta y tuvimos que dejar de dar de comer acelga a las palomas.
Solamente al pasar varias generaciones de gorriones junto con la desaparición de la costumbre Passeridae de la sabiduría popular de los gorriones, íbamos a poder dar de comer acelga a las palomas de nuevo—frugalmente después de espantar los gorriones para que no pudieran ver y aprender otra vez.
