Letter about Jeanie Winning
THE FOLLOWING IS
ABOUT MARY PALMER DAUGHTER OF THE
FAMOUS THOMAS HAIG PALMER: Mary
Elizabeth was born about 1836. She is
the daughter of Thomas Palmer and Joanna
Fenton. She died by drowning in a local
stream when the ice gave way on her way
home from school about 1850, and, of
course was very much missed. She is
buried in the family plot in Evergreen
Cemetery, Pittsford.
Tom,
Here is another Hascall that might
interest you.
Reverend Daniel Hascall (1782-1852).
He is the brother of Lebbeus. He
taught at Colgate University in
Hamilton New York. They have a
building on campus to this day named
Hascall Hall. He is buried at the
college He was the professor of Sacred
Rhetoric. in 1834-1835. I am sending a
picture of him also.
Susie
I THINK HE WAS A
PROFESSOR OF "SACRED RHETORIC." OMG.
I hate it when I find ancestors who
have gone over to the dark side.

Hi Tom,
Your request got me curious so I
looked them up online and the Colt .45
ACP was manufactured for the Army (as
opposed to the Navy or Marines)
between February and May of
1915. So this comports nicely
with the story as it would have been
issued before or during the
war. The Parker was
manufactured in 1904 so my guess is
that either Grandpa bought it used or
it was handed down to him by some
relative. This also accounts for
the worn condition because I doubt
many people back then bought shotguns
to hang over their mantels.

MAYFLOWER ANCESTORS
GEORGE SOULE
DAUGHTER PATIENCE SOULE
The last Hascall on the
tree I sent is Joseph Haskall
(1741-1814).
His father is Joseph Hascall
(1712-1771)
His father is John Haskell
(1670-1726)
His father is John Haskell
(1639-1706) and his mother is Patience
Soule (1645-1705)
She is the daughter of George
Soule Mayflower traveler. I am sending 3
papers (sorry - my scanner is acting up
and I can't put them in one document)
about George Soule. One is from a
book in the Rutland Library and the
other I got online.
There are a few other people I am
going to look into to see if we are
related to them as the names are the
same.
Will keep you posted.

Mr. Hascall is survived by his wife, the
former Agnes Palmer of this city, whom
he married in August 1886.
Had he lived, the couple would have
observed their golden anniversary next
month. He also has two sons, Robert C.
Hascall of Waverly Mass., and Thomas H.
Hascall of this city and four
grandchildren.
Is this Robert C. Hascall in 1908 Book?
