The guy next to Sammy Fees is Robert Farrell I believe. The guy
with no name next to Marsha Sowell I believe was from Panama and
his father gave up a good job as a tugboat captain to come to
Arizona.
The other guy next to Ron Green is Ray Likesy.
Here's Joe Spracale in a photo I took as a youngster. I
think I waited decades to develop the film. Another
follows....
Seems like only yesterday
MRS. WELLS' SIXTH GRADE
CLASS 1963 (BELOW)
You see me second from the right,
bottom row grinning between my two bestest pals.
Unfortunately, they were LDS and after sixth grade I
don't think they were allowed to associate with non
LDS after that year. At least that is how I came to
understand what happened. As I recall, neither one of
them ever as much as spoke to me again. That's
religion for you as usual contributing to the greater
worst. But it wasn't much of an issue with me because
luckily, I had other friends. Notice that I'm wearing
a white T-shirt under my shirt as the other guy on my
right is. Well, they both were. I asked my mom if I
could have a white T-shirt to wear and she said, "Oh,
that's a Mormon thing." She didn't care if I wore it.
I was trying to be like the other fellers.
MRS. LAIRD'S SEVENTH GRADE CLASS (BELOW)
Here's EIGHTH GRADE WITH MR. STORTZ (BELOW)
Here's the program
where I recited the poem, "The Turtle" and Steve sang our
favorite "The Wayward Wind."
I kept making the same mistake saying "fly" instead of
"mosquito." I made it on stage but caught myself and said,
"...a fly ---- I mean a MOSQUITO!" The audience roared with
laughter. I was hooked. From then on I knew the stand-up gig
was for me!
Oh, my gosh what a religious program. What did my atheist
parents think of that? I don't remember a bit of the religious
stuff.
Here's the cover that I remember with the woodpecker and all.

1967 I think. I have only a bit part, but I was the
first one seen when the curtain opened because the play began with
a couple of us "braves" murdering a settler and I got to knife him
when he was down and then someone shot us all or something. I was
TERRIFED when I saw the curtain open and the packed house. I
remember my heart pounding so loud I could hear it.
