This is to memorialize the Cottonwood Grove in the 50s and early 60s that stretched east and west
from the intersection of the then dirt road Sierra Vista Drive in Tempe and what would later be Alameda Drive
Alameda can mean Avenue or Poplar Grove (It seems Alamo, which means poplar in Spanish is also used to mean cottonwood tree.)

Jan Bradbury broke his front teeth off in the canal there.

WE CALLED THE PLACE THE COTTONWOODS.

I once planted a garden there and returned in a month to see it FLOURISHING!
THIS BLACK AND WHITE SHOT FROM AGES AGO SHOWS THEM I THINK!

"Underneath the Cottonwood Trees" is the third and last song of the medley that is track number
nine on the album Leitmotif. It's melody is the leitmotif melody that is also the basis for the songs
"There's a Place "and "Only in Dreams" and perhaps elsewhere in the album. The "as big as the
west itself" guitar part that ends the song also appears later in the album.
ISN'T THAT INTERESTING?

The music ends with what I hope people will agree is a
A SOUND AS BIG AS THE WEST!!
That was my intent anyhow...

One was taken on January 27, 2018 and the rest on March 7, 2018 on the rez around
San Tan and Arizona Avenue (87) well south of Riggs Road, going south to Coolidge.
