Nueva Escocia

Estaba en Nova Scotia en 1956 y mi hermana Wendy sostenía mis manos y jalaba en un esfuerzo para ponerme abordo del barco de vela. Siempre ha sido un recuerdo vivo mío y hace unos cuantos años me sorprendí al ver la película familiar de esto. No sabía que había sido filmado lo que pasó. Al mirar la película, estaba un poquito decepcionado ya que no sé si mi hermana logró ponerme abordo con los otros niños. En la película no hay una imagen de mí en la cubierta del barco y por alguna razón eso me molesta un poquito. 
Iba a escribir esta historia como un capítulo entero pero mientras redactaba me enteré de que no sabía mucho sobre el lugar para nada. Solamente tenía el cuento sobre el barco.
En 2018 fui en avión a Halifax, la capital de la provincia y me acomodé en una "posada" llamada The Mary Queen of Scots Inn. Hice un recorrido del puerto y vi el memorial de la explosión de Halifax en la que 2000 personas habían fallecido. Leo en mi diario que llegué el 23 de Mayo de 2018 y fui a St. John's, Newfoundland el 25, así que fue una visita médica.
He decidido regresar a Halifax otra vez cuando la peste haya desaparecido y hasta entonces tengo que estar satisfecho concluyendo con unas cuantas imágenes de la película de 1956.
Dios mío. ¡Ese soy yo abordo del barco! Reconozco el mismo abrigo marrón. ¡Qué alivio! ¿Sabes una cosa? Ni siquiera voy a molestarme en corregir lo que escribí arriba.

NOVA SCOTIA

I was in Nova Scotia and the year was 1956. My sister Wendy was holding my hands and pulling in an effort to get me aboard the sailboat. It's always been a vivid memory of mine and a few years ago, I was surprised to see a family movie of this. I didn't know it'd been filmed. When I saw the movie, I was a little disappointed as I don't know if my sister ever really managed to get me on board with the other kids. There's no image of me on deck and for some reason that bothers me.
I was going to write up this story as a whole chapter, but as I was doing so, I found that I didn't know much about the place at all. I really only had the one story about the ship. Therefore, this will fit just fine into the chapter on short personal encounters of the third kind.
In 2018 I flew to Halifax, the provincial capital, and stayed in at The Mary Queen of Scots Inn. I did a harbor tour and saw the memorial of the Halifax explosion in which 2000 people died. I read in my diary that I arrived on May 23, 2018 and went to St. John's, Newfoundland on the 25th so it was an awfully short visit.
I've decided to return to Halifax again when the plague is gone and until then it will have to be enough for me to include here a few images from the 1956 Nova Scotia film.
OMG. That's me aboard the boat! I recognize the same brown coat. What a relief! You know, I'm not even going to bother to go back and correct what I wrote above.
