THESE
FOOLISH THINGS
I'm adding "These
Foolish Things" to my 'toire. It's kind of a
strange one and not too easy. Great song. Rod
Steward sings it in F# but Nat King Cole sang
it in the key of C and that's good enough for
me.
I'm getting it now but it's a shame that the
song has some of the WORST rhymes/lyrics ever
since Sweet Caroline/I am inclined. Now, I
know I've written my share of bad lyrics
myself but... consider these.
A tinkling piano in the next apartment,
Those stumbling words that told you what my heart
meant,
The winds of March that make my heart a dancer,
A telephone that rings but who's to answer?
THESE LYRICS FROM THE SAME SONG AREN'T
GOING TO WIN ANY PRIZES EITHER
I.
The sigh of midnight trains in empty stations
Silk stockings thrown aside, dance invitations
II.
Gardenia perfume
Lingering on a pillow
Wild strawberries
Only seven francs a kilo
III.
The park at evening
When the bell has sounded
The pier in France
With all the gulls around it
IV.
The scent of smoldering leaves
The wail of steamers
Two lovers on the street
Who walk like dreamers
NEIL DIAMOND WORST
ABUSE OF ASSONANCE EVER.
Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good
I'd be inclined
To believe they never would
SALLY SAYS THIS ONE IS BAD. I AGREE.
Out through the back
door of Rosa's I ran
Out where the horses were tied
I caught a good one it looked like it
could run
Up on its back and away I did ride
