I flew to San Diego once. My rental car people never showed and I had to walk around the scary downtown streets looking for a car to rent. I finally got one and stayed at the Motel 6 in a non-smoking room that smelled like the inside of a country guitarist's lungs. The next morning, I drove down the coast to Ensenada, Mexico and attended a wedding. Then, I drove back up the coast to the US and flew home.

It was Michelle Hestrin Wong's wedding.

1. American Kestrel 10/18/2003 Ensenada Flew over Michelle's wedding. Flew to San Diego and drove to Ensenada.

2. Black Oystercatcher 10/19/2003 Ensenada I got up in the morning and looked out my window and saw this bird on the rocks down there. Life lister.

3. Black Turnstone 10/18/2003 Ensenada Life lister. Got good views of this bird. At first at a distance I thought he was a ruddy turnstone but then I got up close and it was a black turnstone. Black and white pattern on back when in flight. LIFE LISTER!

4. Brown Pelican 10/18/2003 Ensenada Two old ones to every young it seemed.

6. Double-Crested Cormorant 10/18/2003 Ensenada These were up on the rocks behind the hotel.

10. Wandering Tattler 10/18/2003 Ensenada Saw one or two of them walking around on the rocks. There was a black turnstone next to one but I didn't recognize him as such until later.
