Boyce Thompson Arboretum    02/11/2008  i think this is the TENTH NOT 2/11   This is when I went for the first gig at the superior bar  I stopped here first. Well I sang 49 times. The bluegrass band was hired first so there was a

Boyce Thompson Arboretum    02/17/2008    Stopped at the arboretum before my second gig at the Superior Bar. There was a birthday there for one "Bear," a girl who had turned fifty. One dollar in tips. No CDs sold. They weren't big tippers. Alan had me play a long time. I had a steak at the picnic. An old cowboy wanted to sing "Cattle Call" and I did. He sang along. Actually he croaked along. He could only croak. He smelled like cigarettes. My guitar broke and I played everything on the $119 telecaster knock-off. I played most everything including "Old Faithful" and those.

Boyce Thompson Arboretum    02/24/2008    Third gig at the Superior Bar. GOT THE HYBRID HUMMER at last. Right at the feeder there. Nice House Wren. Alan booked three bands and didn't tell any of them. Two bluegrass and me. I finally got to play for 45 minutes or so. I was tired and didn't do such a good job and I want my variax back!

2/28/2008    I played after work at the superior bar. I played two hours. a group of photographers from glendale com college or something were there. I sold two cds. alan gave me fifty bucks. I've played there four times February 9, 17, 24, 28, 2008 One guy named cliff or clint sat there and listened. He bought a cd. (It is nov 30 2008 now and i remember 75 bucks. Oh, well I went there today and the bar seems closed. )

Boyce Thompson Arboretum    11/30/2008    Eleven measly birds and I was there a long time. I went to the SUPERIOR BAR. It was closed. Saw some leaves around the door. I went to a bar with a bunch of motorcycles in front of it. I went in and asked the guys at the bar what happened to the bar. They said he hadn't officially closed it, but that he hadn't been open in about eight months. Damn! There was a walking stick by the door of the Superior Bar, wasn't there? I took a picture.

Boyce Thompson Arboretum    02/26/2009    I took my furlough day and went here. Plumbeous Vireo and Green-tailed Towhee and Red-naped Sapsucker were the highlights. I went to the Superior Bar, and it was closed. I guess them days is gone.

Boyce Thompson Arboretum    4/30/2011    Met the Atheist group there. Al wouldn't clean up his mess on the table. Oh, they were so pokey walking that it was unreal. I met one of the arboretum guys who wants me to come and help with a bird count. I'd rather come and sing. There were musicians there. They were pretty good, but I like my show, so I'll go and look. I blabbed to one of the members. I walked. I lost Al and Tiger. Too slow. I split and I went to Superior, Arizona and someone had thrown a couple of rocks through the window of The Superior Bar. There on the side. There were a couple of holes and they crystalized the panes.

Alan,
Caji carbon copied me on the message he sent you and I wanted to know
if you had any use for a swing guitar player sometime at your bar. I
can send you a little demo that Caji recorded of me just strumming in
his livingroom without my sound system so you can get an idea of the
style and type of songs. They're western swing tunes and some jazz
standards from way back that are fun and easy for people to understand.

Alan me hizo tocar mucho tiempo.
Olía a cigarrillos.

CLICK THE COVER TO READ CHAPTER NINE (9). Chapter Three is actually named The Superior bar. Oh, I forgot to mention this story that I heard was true. The mom and two daughters were playing together for a while and one day at practice the dad came in with a big old bass and started playing as he had secretly been taking lessons. You really need a bass.
