3. Los vaqueros de Wyoming
Mi tío Mole me relató un cuento de
lo que pasó cuando él acompañó a mi padre a un café
en Wyoming, un estado del oeste del país.
Todos los estados de Estados Unidos
tienen un epíteto. Por ejemplo, el estado de Montana
se llama “La Tierra del Cielo Grande”, Kentucky se
llama “El Estado de Hierba Azul”, y California se
llama “El Estado Dorado”.
El epíteto de Wyoming es
“El Estado de los Vaqueros”.
Los dos entraron en el café pequeño que estaba
lleno de vaqueros y al sentarse mi padre dijo en
voz alta:
—Mole, hay dos clases de
gente que no se quita el sombrero al entrar en un
restaurante: ¡las damas y los vaqueros!
Mi tío Mole me dijo que se sentía con mucha
suerte de haber salido del café con vida.
3. The Wyoming Cowboys
My uncle Mole told me a story about
what happened when he accompanied my father to a
café in Wyoming.
As you know, all of the states of the US have an
epithet. The state of Montana is called “Big Sky
Country,” Kentucky is called “The Bluegrass State,”
and California is called “The Golden State,
The epithet for Wyoming is “The
Cowboy State.”
The two went into the café, which was full of
cowboys and after sitting down, my father said in
a loud voice, “Mole, there are two kinds of people
that don’t take off their hats when they enter a
room: ladies and cowboys!”
My uncle Mole told me he felt lucky to have left
the café alive.
