Western Canal    7/26/2012    I drove down past Price and the Freeway and got to the canal via back roads through contruction. I walked to McClintoc. Nice nice nice. Nice houses. Big carp. Nice breeze but it was very hot. I sat near some stairs into the water and almost dove in with a mallard there, but decided against it. Wish I could live in one of those big, beautiful houses on the canal.
Western Canal    11/15/2012    I got new tires in the front. They said my brakes needed 670 dollars worth of repair. I took the truck to Goodyear and they fixed it for 288! While I waited for my tires I walked clean to Dobson down the Western Canal.

Went swimming at that one area just west of Dobson and then again at the Pump site and then swam again at the pump site on the way back. I think you could get sucked in at the pump site. Very nice. Western Canal    5/2/2012    I walked down EAST of Gilbert. Down a ways was VILLAGE II PARK. Nice mini farms at Lindsay and the canal. Sheep, goats, peacocks, roosters and chickens, horses. Nice canal there too perfect for swimming but there would be lots of cars and people to see you. I went into a very quiet and rather rich neighborhood. A guy helped me find my way back to the canal.  When I got home I learned that five people had been murdered on Cooper and Warner. A neo Nazi republican-type gun nut with ties to immigration republicans seems to have done it.

Western Canal    4/30/2012    I walked from Elliot and Cooper to gilbert road and back so that was two miles. There was little water in the canal. The wonderful art fountains were dry too. There was a nice animal rescue house there between Neely and Gilbert. Fairly warm. I left a 79-cent 32-ounce Dr. Pepper in the car for when I got back.
Western Canal    10/17/2012    I walked from Rural westward. There was a golf course on the right with no one there and lots of irrigation spraying and nets to protect walkers. Big canal. Big water. Nice. I went to breakfast with Jan Kegelman. The chicken sammy I had was awful. I was late because I didn't take the freeway and the doggoned traffic held me up and College Avenue was closed.

MUCH more water and some of it racing. Wider canals and nicer neighborhoods. TURTLES! Yesterday I talked to Jeff Dorris and booked my trip to Ireland. Now I must get ready as it's less than a month away. Very exciting. Only 3633 dollars for everything except a few meals.

I drank vodka last night. It seemed to have no effect on me, so I drank some more and feel only just a little strange today. Working on Sibelius and I am making a rule that I can't touch the program until I've done my other projects because it's so addictive and time-consuming.

I parked my car at the park and walked down the canal where there were lots of other people walking and I went clean to Arizona Avenue and I came back and it was four miles and it took an hour and ten minutes 8:40-9:50. It was nice. Some horribly ratty houses on the canal but mostly nice ones. Very pretty and I will now go every morning and listen to my spanish recordings and go even an extra mile maybe. Very nice indeed. Tilapia and tons of carp.

I went a mile down and parked near McClintock and then walked to Rural and back. Rodrigo's having his roof fixed. Police had a ribbon cutting off Colt Road there on the left looking south. The fireman told me there was an incident but no crime.

Some guys let me sit with them. It was STOUT beer day.

I bought a big IPA, some sea weed, some blue cheese, and some crackers. Sally came down. We went to Rosita's. When we came back someone had smashed a big limestone rock on my sidewalk way inside. We couldn't figure it out. It seemed as if it had fallen from the sky. It was actually a rock from the Del Rio formation in Austin or it was from Wendy's house in Texas. It had a fossil on it. Rodrigo told me the next mourning that someone had smashed some tile of his and knocked over all the garbage bins. I found that someone had knocked my lizard off the gate.
